A valid passport is required, with a minimum validity of at least 6 months beyond the intended duration of stay, and a copy of the passport’s bio-data page must be provided.

  1. Travel Itinerary/Booking

Proof of a travel itinerary or booking, demonstrating the traveler’s plan for their stay in Uganda.

  1. Recent Passport-Size Photograph

Submission of recent passport-size photographs as per the specified requirements.

Things to remember when entering Uganda

Here are some considerations to bear in mind when entering Uganda:

  1. Visa Requirements

Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda.

  1. Yellow Fever Vaccination

A yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry into Uganda. Failure to provide proof of vaccination may result in entry refusal.

  1. Best Time to Visit

Uganda experiences two main seasons, wet and dry. Due to its Equatorial location, the weather remains favorable for safaris throughout the year. However, consider visiting during the drier months of June to September and December to February for optimal conditions.

  1. Respect local customs and traditions

Dress modestly, greet people politely, and be mindful of religious and cultural sensitivities.

  1. Culture and Customs

With over 50 tribes, Uganda is culturally diverse. It’s essential to respect local customs and traditions, such as the common practice of removing shoes before entering someone’s home.

  1. Currency

The official currency is the Ugandan shilling. While in Uganda, it is advisable to carry US dollars or Euros as they are widely accepted.

  1. Language

English serves as the official language, but the country boasts over 40 spoken languages. Being aware of this linguistic diversity can enhance your interactions.

  1. Safety

Uganda is generally considered a safe destination. However, standard safety precautions, such as avoiding walking alone at night, minimizing cash exposure, and staying vigilant of your surroundings, are advisable.

Uganda visa policy

The Uganda visa policy is a set of rules created by the government to control the entry and stay of foreign visitors. Here are the key points:

  1. Visa Exemptions

People from about 37 countries can enter Uganda without a visa for up to 90 days. But others need a visa or travel authorization for entry.

  1. Ugandan e-Visa

Residents of over 100 countries can apply for the Ugandan e-Visa online. It allows a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days in Uganda.

  1. Special Considerations

Nationals from countries without exemptions or e-Visa eligibility can apply for a regular visa at a Uganda embassy. Documents vary based on the visit’s purpose (tourism, business, work, or investment).

  1. Passport Validity

Travelers are advised to have a passport valid for at least six months from their arrival in Uganda. The passport should also have at least one blank page.

  1. Non-Refundable Visa Fee

Applicants should know that the visa fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome or if they withdraw the application.
