What is a Vietnam eVisa?

A Vietnam eVisa is an electronic visa issued online by the Vietnamese Immigration Department, allowing travelers to enter Vietnam for tourism, business, or transit purposes without visiting an embassy or consulate in person.

There are two (2) types of Vietnam eVisa available:

Single entry eVisa: Valid for 30 days from the entry date, allowing one entry into Vietnam.
Multiple entry eVisa: Valid for 90 days from the date of issuance, allowing multiple entries into Vietnam during the validity period.

Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam: This law, often referred to as the Immigration Law, is the overarching legislation that governs the entry and exit of foreigners in Vietnam. It includes e-visas provisions outlining the issuance and use conditions.

Resolution No. 127/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023: This resolution specifically addresses the expansion of the e-visa program in Vietnam. It signifies a significant change by making e-visas available to citizens of all nationalities (previously limited to 80 countries). This resolution aims to boost tourism by simplifying the entry process for foreign visitors.

Requirements for Vietnam eVisa

Citizenship: You must be one of the nationals of countries and territories that are eligible to apply for a Vietnam eVisa.
Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months from your intended arrival date in Vietnam and have at least two (2) blank pages for stamps.
Travel purpose: Your eVisa is only valid for tourism, business, or family visits. Other purposes may require a different type of visa.
Entry and exit points: You must enter and exit Vietnam through specific designated airports, land borders, or seaports that accept eVisas.
No entry restrictions: You cannot be subject to any entry restrictions or bans imposed by Vietnamese authorities.

Passport bio page: A clear scan of your passport’s biographical page (the page with your photo and personal information).
Portrait photo: A digital passport-sized photo (2×2 inches or 4×6 cm) meeting specific requirements.

Validity period and permitted stay length for a Vietnam eVisathere are two types of Vietnam eVisas with different validity periods and permitted stay lengths:Single entry eVisa

Validity period: 30 days from the date of entry.

Permitted stay length: You can stay in Vietnam for a maximum of 30 days consecutively from the day following your entry.

Multiple entry eVisa

Validity period: 90 days from the date of issuance.

Permitted stay length: You can stay in Vietnam for a maximum of 30 days consecutively on each entry during the 90-day validity period. This means you can enter and exit Vietnam multiple times within 90 days, but each stay cannot exceed 30 days.
