Types of Uganda eVisa available for US citizens

There are four main types of eVisas available for US citizens traveling to Uganda,  each catering to different travel needs:

1. Tourist Visa: This visa is perfect for a one-time trip to Uganda. It allows you to stay in the country for a maximum of 90 days from the date of entry. The visa fee is US$116.63.
2. East African Tourist Visa: This visa is ideal if you’re planning a multi-country East African adventure encompassing Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda. It grants you multiple entries into each country during its validity period, and you must begin your trip in Uganda. The visa fee is US$164.82.
3. Transit Visa: If you have a layover in Uganda and plan to leave the airport transit area, you’ll need a Transit Visa. This visa allows you a single entry and a maximum stay of 48 hours. The visa fee is US$116.63.

Here are some things to remember when traveling to Uganda as a US citizen:

Visas and Entry Requirements

• Get an eVisa: A visa is absolutely mandatory for US citizens entering Uganda. You’ll need to acquire an eVisa online before your trip.
• Valid Passport: Ensure your passport has at least six (6) months of validity remaining from your planned departure date from Uganda.
• Yellow Fever Vaccination: You’ll need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Uganda.

Health and Safety

• Vaccinations: While a yellow fever vaccination is mandatory, the CDC and WHO recommend a variety of other vaccinations for travel to Uganda, including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia, and influenza.
