What Do I Need to Apply?

A valid passport with at least six (6) months of validity remaining at the time of entry.
A recent digital passport-style photograph.
A confirmed travel itinerary, including entry and exit tickets.
Proof of accommodation in Colombia (hotel reservation, host invitation letter, or equivalent documentation).
Proof of financial solvency, demonstrated through bank statements, income certification, or other supporting evidence as required.
A valid health insurance policy covering the national territory for the duration of the stay, including medical care, hospitalization, disability, maternity, repatriation, and death benefits (mandatory for tourism, student, and medical subcategories; recommended for all applicants).
Fee for application is $267.98 USD. Valid payment methods include MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover and PayPal.

Validity and Entries

Tourism Visa

Validity: Up to one (1) year.
Entries: Multiple.
Duration of Stay: Ninety (90) days per entry, extendable for an additional ninety (90) days. Maximum stay: one hundred eighty (180) days within a calendar year.

Business Visa

Validity: Up to two (2) years.
Entries: Multiple.
Duration of Stay: Maximum one hundred eighty (180) days in total, continuous or non-continuous, within a calendar year.

Student Visa

Validity: Up to two (2) years, depending on the academic program.
Entries: Multiple.
Duration of Stay: Up to one hundred eighty (180) days per calendar year. For distance or virtual programs, absence from Colombia for more than ninety (90) consecutive days may result in automatic cancellation of the visa.

Airport Transit Visa

Validity: Thirty (30) days from the date of issuance.
Entries: Multiple transits permitted.
Duration of Stay: A maximum of twenty-four (24) hours in the international transit area of the airport.

Conditions of Use

Authorized Activities:
- Enter Colombia for tourism, business, or short-term study.
- Stay in Colombia for up to 180 days, depending on your visa type.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, or cultural events.
- Travel freely within Colombia during your authorized stay.
Prohibited Activities:
- Engage in paid employment or long-term work.
- Enroll in degree programs or long-term academic studies.
- Extend your stay beyond the authorized period without a new visa.
- Use the eVisa for permanent residency or immigration purposes.

Fee and Processing Time

Fee: USD $267.98.
Processing Time: Standard review is completed within five (5) business days from receipt of payment. If additional documentation or an interview is required, the process may take up to thirty (30) calendar days from the date of application submission.

Applicants are advised to submit their requests at least four (4) weeks prior to their intended date of travel to allow for any additional verification procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I track the status of my application?

Yes. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions to check your application status online.

Can I extend my stay once I’m in Colombia?

Yes. Certain Type V subcategories (such as Tourism) may be extended up to a maximum of 180 days within a calendar year. Extensions must be requested before the current authorized stay expires.

Do my documents need to be in Spanish?

Documents issued in a language other than Spanish or English must be accompanied by an official translation into Spanish, duly legalized or apostilled as required.
