The specific law that regulates the Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM) is the Ley de Migración (Migration Law) of Mexico, which was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on May 25, 2011 and last reformed on November 12, 2020. This law establishes the rights and obligations of foreigners who enter, stay, transit, or leave the national territory, as well as the principles, organization, and functioning of the immigration authorities.
