Cost and Processing Time for India ETourist Visa
The cost and processing time for an Indian eTourist Visa (eTV) can vary depending on your nationality and the eTV you apply for.
Type of eTourist Visa | Cost (USD) | Processing Time |
30-day Visa | $64.14 | Four days |
1-year Visa | $96.54 | Four days |
5-year Visa | $144.64 | Four days |
Duration and Validity of the India ETourist Visa
The duration and validity of the India eTourist Visa (eTV) depend on the specific type you apply for:
- Validity Period: This refers to the total timeframe from the date the visa is issued (granted) until it expires.
- Maximum Permitted Stay: This refers to the maximum length of time you can stay in India on a single visit with that eTV.
Here’s a breakdown of the different eTV options:
- One Month e-Tourist Visa:
- Validity Period: 30 days from the date of issue.
- Maximum Permitted Stay: 30 days in India from the date of your first arrival.
- One Year e-Tourist Visa:
- Validity Period: 365 days (one year) from the date of issue.
- Maximum Permitted Stay: Up to 90 continuous days per visit during the one-year validity period. You can make multiple trips to India within the year, but each stay cannot exceed 90 days.
- Five Year e-Tourist Visa:
- Validity Period: Five years from the date of issue.
- Maximum Permitted Stay: Up to 180 days per calendar year during the five-year validity period. Similar to the one-year eTV, you can make multiple visits within the five years, but the total stay in India cannot exceed 180 days in a single calendar year.
India ETourist Visa Extension
Unfortunately, unlike some other Indian visa types, the e-Tourist Visa (eTV) cannot currently be extended. Once issued, it has a fixed validity period and is not extensible.
Here are some options if you find yourself needing a longer stay in India:
- Apply for a New Visa: You can apply for a new visa that better suits the duration of your intended stay. This would likely involve applying for a different visa category, such as a business visa or a long-term tourist visa, through the Indian Embassy in Sweden, which handles Latvian affairs.
- Exit and Re-entry: If you only need a slightly longer stay, consider exiting India to a neighboring country like Nepal or Sri Lanka and then re-entering to obtain a new eTV. Remember that visa fees and other costs may be associated with exiting and re-entering India.
