How long can I stay in the Dominican Republic without a visa?

To enter the Dominican Republic as a tourist, you need a valid passport with at least six months of validity and two blank pages. You also need to obtain a tourist card online or at the airport upon arrival and is valid for 30 days.¹

If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you need to pay a fee when you exit the country, depending on how long you overstay. The fee ranges from $25 for one month to $800 for five years or more. You can also apply for an extension of your tourist card at the Directorate General of Migration in Santo Domingo.

Regardless of staying in the Dominican Republic without a visa, you will still need to apply for an eTicket for air travel to and from the Dominican Republic, which can be applied through Visas for Future.

Which countries can Visit the Dominican Republic without a visa?

The Dominican Republic has a visa policy that allows residents of 108 countries and passport-issuing jurisdictions to enter the country as tourists for up to 90 days without a visa. The list of visa-exempt countries includes:²

If you are a citizen of a country that is eligible for a 90-day visa exemption, you can extend your stay for an additional 30 days for a fee of US$100. To extend your stay, you must apply online or at the airport on departure.

In addition to the visa exemption duration, you must also make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the date of your departure from the Dominican Republic.

Dominican Republic visa policy

Dominican Republic visa policy is as follows:

• Nationals of 108 countries and passport-issuing jurisdictions do not require a visa to enter the Dominican Republic for 90 days (longer stays may be requested with a fee).
• The visa exemption also applies to holders of valid visas or resident cards of Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
• Visas are not required for citizens of any country who were born in the Dominican Republic as per their travel documents.
