Colombia offers different types of visas for foreign nationals, depending on their purpose and duration of stay. The main categories for Colombia visas for Egypt citizens are:

  • Visitor visa (V): This visa allows you to enter Colombia for Airport transit, tourism, business, student, and medical treatment.

    • Medical – This category is for individuals who need to attend medical or dental consultations, interventions, or treatments, either as a patient or a patient’s companion.
  • Migrant visa (M): This visa allows you to reside in Colombia for more than six months and up to three years. It is suitable for foreigners who have a family relationship with a Colombian citizen or resident, who have a work contract or an investment in Colombia, who are studying or doing research in Colombia, or who have other reasons to settle in Colombia. You can apply for this visa at your country’s Colombian embassy or consulate.
  • Resident visa (R): This visa allows you to reside in Colombia indefinitely. It is granted to foreigners who have lived in Colombia for more than five years with a migrant visa, have a Colombian spouse or child, are refugees or stateless persons, or have made a significant contribution to Colombia. You can apply for this visa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bogotá.2

Documents required for Egyptians to enter Colombia as tourists

Visitor (type V) visa requirements depend on the traveler’s purpose:3

Airport Transit

If you are traveling to Colombia for airport transit, you need to have a flight ticket that shows your arrival and departure from Colombia to another destination country.

Tourism

  • A letter with the traveler’s ID and travel details.
  • If invited by a resident, a letter with their fingerprint, contact, address, email, relationship, financial support, and departure guarantee.
  • Bank statements showing enough income for six months.
  • Health insurance for all risks during the stay.
  • Flight reservation for round trip.

Business

The traveler must comply with the following requirements if the application is submitted under personal capacity and responsibility:

  • A letter with the traveler’s ID and activity details.
  • A fingerprinted letter from the resident host, with their contact, relationship, support, and return guarantee.
  • Bank statements show enough income for six months.

If the application is made with the support of a legal entity, the legal entity responsible in Colombia for the applicant must request it directly, after complying with the following requirements:

  • A reasoned communication signed by the legal representative of the legal entity, which contains the following information:
    • Legal entity’s ID, NIT (if in Colombia), and contact.
    • Traveler’s ID.
    • Letter from a legal representative supporting the application, stating the activity, duration, relationship, financial responsibility, and return guarantee. Also, data of other foreigners that is supported by the entity.
    • Explanation of relationship and traveler’s qualification or expertise.
    • Declaration of economic responsibility and commitment to inform changes, guarantee return, and report irregularity. Signed and fingerprinted by hand or by foreign authority.
  • Legal entity’s document with formalities, if private and foreign.
  • Bank statements for three months, unless public entity.
  • Bank statements showing at least three SMLMV income.

Student

The foreigner must comply with the following requirements if the application is submitted under personal capacity and responsibility:

  • A letter with the foreigner’s ID and activity details.
  • A fingerprinted letter from the Colombian host or resident, with their contact, relationship, support, and return guarantee.
  • Bank statements showing enough income for six months.

If the application is made with the support of a legal entity, the legal entity responsible in Colombia for the applicant must request it directly, after complying with the following requirements:

  • A letter from the legal representative with these details:
    • Legal entity’s ID, NIT (if in Colombia), and contact.
    • Foreigner’s ID.
    • Letter from a legal representative supporting the application, stating the activity, duration, relationship, financial responsibility, and return guarantee. Also, data of other foreigners is supported by the entity.
    • Explanation of relationship and foreigner’s qualification or expertise.
    • Declaration of economic responsibility and commitment to inform changes, guarantee return, and report irregularity. Signed and fingerprinted by hand or by foreign authority.
  • Legal entity’s document with formalities, if private and foreign.
  • Bank statements for three months, unless public entity.
  • Bank statements showing at least three SMLMV income.
  • Admission or enrollment certificate with degree and duration.
  • For internships, endorsement, and duration from the institution.
  • Health insurance for all risks during the stay.
  • For later visas, attendance, and completion certificates.

Medical

The applicant must comply with the following requirements if the application is submitted under personal capacity and responsibility:

  • A letter with the foreigner’s ID and activity details.
  • A fingerprinted letter from the Colombian host or resident, with their contact, relationship, support, and return guarantee.
  • Bank statements showing enough income for six months.
  • Letter from the health provider with treatment type and duration.
  • Letter from the foreigner with cost responsibility and no burden to the Colombian system.
  • Health insurance for all risks during the stay.
